Steve Farmer 71, of Redford, Michigan, formerly of Union Co. KY passed away at his home on Tuesday April 7, 2020. Steve was an American guitarist, composer, and lyricist, best known for his composition with Ted Nugent in 1968 “Journey to the Center of the Mind”, performed by their group the Amboy Dukes. Steve wrote the lyrics to the hit song, which peaked at #16 in the charts. He also co-wrote with Ted Nugent or self composed 22 compositions to help complete the first 3 albums by the Amboy Dukes. Steve continued to write and compose music until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Brucie Farmer, and a sister Carole Farmer. Survivors include several cousins. Private memorial services will be held at White Oak Cemetery in Clay, KY at a later date. Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY is handling arrangements.
