John A. Clayton Jr. 89, of Providence, KY passed away on Saturday January 16, 2021 at Shemwell Healthcare in Providence, KY. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver, he drove for McLean Trucking for 22 years and ABF Trucking for 11 years. He was a member of the Providence 2nd Baptist Church in Providence, KY. He was the son of the late John Clayton Sr. and Elsie Clayton. He was preceded in death by a Sister Joyce Dirk and a step-son David McDaniel. Survivors include his wife of 37 years June Allen Clayton of Providence, KY; 3 daughters Carolyn Palazzo(Fred), Laura Creemer(Larry) and Julie Gutzwiller(Joe) all of Indianapolis, IN; 1 step daughter Lisa Crawford(Pete) of Memphis, TN; 1 step-son Allen McDaniel of Memphis, TN; 2 brothers Bob Clayton of Newburgh, IN and William Bill Clayton of St. Pete Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Thursday January 21, 2021 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. J.T. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Slover Cemetery in Dixon, KY. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
