Dorris Ray Liggett 79, passed away on Wednesday September 28, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was a member of the Little Zion General Baptist Church in Dixon, KY. Dorris was a lifelong Farmer and loved listening to good Southern gospel music. He also loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren, and loved his church. He was a US Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was the son of the late T.D. “Buck” and Ruby Liggett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Betty Liggett, 2 sisters Sue Duncan and Faye Rakestraw, and 1 brother Jimmy Liggett. Survivors include his daughter Vicki(Jamie) Shadrick of Dixon, KY; son Danny(Mandy) Liggett of Dixon, KY; 2 sisters Ann Braden of Providence, KY and Shirley Tapp of Dixon, KY; 2 brothers, his twin David Liggett of Dixon, KY and Tommy Liggett of Dixon, KY; mother in law Jessie Hunley of Morganfield, KY; 4 grandchildren Shelby and Carly Shadrick and Campbell and Brennan Liggett; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday October 3, 2022 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. John Brumfiel will officiate. Burial will be in Little Zion Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed at the graveside. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8pm and from 8am until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
