Thomas "Tom" Yancy

Thomas “Tom” Yancy, 63, of Sebree, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday August 3, 2025, surrounded by family who loved him dearly.
He was born on August 4, 1961, to Owen and Peggy Yancy. Tom was a man of the Catholic faith and steady devotion. He made sure his family always knew how proud he was of them. He was unforgettable — protective, mischievous, and full of life. Tom loved to play jokes, make people laugh, and bring joy to those around him. His presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Tom worked as a supervisor at Custom Resins in Henderson in his later years, but many in the community came to know him during his time at Posey’s Market and IGA in Sebree, where he never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and especially loved spending time on the water. Jug fishing for catfish at the lake was one of his favorite pastimes, and he was always happiest when he had a line in the water and his grandkids by his side. Tom was married to his wife, Sandy Yancy of Sebree, for 43 years. He was the proud father of Katie Howard (Greg) of Corydon, Indiana, and Matt Yancy of Sebree, Kentucky. Nothing brought him more joy than being “Papaw” to Colton, Aiden, and Kylee Howard. He is also survived by his mother, Peggy Howell of Sebree, KY; sister Amy Yancy (Renetta Keplinger) of Whitwell, TN; brothers Bill Yancy (Tracy) and Terry Yancy (Donna), both of Dixon, KY; and several nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Tom. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Owen Yancy. Funeral services will be 11am Friday August 8, 2025 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Father Carl McCarthy will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday August 7, 2025 from 5pm-8pm and Friday from 8am till service time. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree, KY.
