Shirley Mae Harmon

Shirley Mae Harmon 70, of Sebree, KY passed away on Sunday May 7th, 2023 at Lucy Smith King Center in Henderson, KY. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Henderson, KY. Shirley had unconditional love for her family, friends, and Jehovah God. She thoroughly enjoyed the children in her family spending summers at her home. They baked delicious treats and enjoyed spa treatments. Shirley also had a knack for striking up conversations with whomever was around. It was said she never met a stranger. Studying the Bible was a vital part of her life and she felt teaching the scriptures to others was crucial. Those that attended the Kingdom Hall with her were more than just religious associates, they were her brothers and sisters. When Shirley was unable to remain in her home, she relocated to Redbanks in Henderson and then moved to St. Anthony’s Hospice-Lucy Smith King Care Center where she received excellent care. Her family and closest friends remained by her side until the end. Remember Shirley with a smile that lights up the room while she is telling one of her favorite stories. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Koonce and Betty Jo Williams Watson, her husband Donald Harmon Sr., 2 sisters Sharon Gossett and Sheila Caldwell, 2 brothers Robert and Eddie Koonce and 2 brother in laws Billy Caldwell and Jimmy Jones. Survivors include her daughter Vicky(Craig) Sheets of Henderson, KY; her son Donald Ray Harmon Jr. of Sebree, KY; 1 sister Sandy Jones of Henderson, KY; her caregivers Diane Johnston, Kathy Greenwood, Donna Overby and Carolyn Burris; 3 grandchildren Jessica Sheets, Sydney Harmon and Emma Harmon; 1 great grandchild Reece Harmon and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Sunday May 14th, 2023 at 2pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Elder Tommy Belt will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Dixon, KY. Friends may visit from 12pm until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice 2410 S. Green Street Henderson, KY 42420.
