Johnny Ellis Holmes

Johnny Ellis Holmes 80, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Dixon, KY passed away at Harmony at Bellevue in Nashville, TN on Sunday July 19th, 2026. Johnny worked and retired after over 20 years at Retiki Coal Mines in Henderson, KY. He graduated from Webster Co High School in 1964. He was the son of the late Eulus and Rebecca Evelyn Gibson Holmes. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Holmes and a sister Barbara Morrow. He is survived by his daughter Jonie McPherson; his son Benjamin Holmes; his stepchildren Misty Duncan and Trena Duncan; 10 grandchildren Dylen Holmes, Justin Asher, Jamin Holmes, Rudolph Holmes, Merym Holmes, Jesse Lowe, Presley DeHaven, Kacee DeHaven, Lola DeHaven and Ellis Duncan; 4 great-grandchildren Reanesamay Holmes, Americus Holmes, Leighlani Holmes and Waylon Lowe and nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Monday July 27th, 2026 at 1pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Benjamin Holmes will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Bud Stone Cemetery in Dixon, KY. Visitation will be from 10:30am until service time time on Monday at the funeral home.
