Jim Crouse, a lifelong resident of Dixon, KY passed away on Thursday August 9th 2018. He was born July 18, 1946 to James Parker Crouse and Mary Edith Asher Crouse. Jim received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and received his Master’s degree and Rank 1 certification from Murray State University. Jim went to work as a teacher in the Providence Independent School System and from there progressed into a career in school administration in Providence as well as other districts, serving as Principal, Director of Pupil Personnel, Transportation Officer, and Energy Manager.
Jim was always an active member of his community on a local and national level, he was an active member of the Kyndle Policy Board, Webster County Economic Development Board, the Webster County Board of Elections, The Amateur Field Trial Clubs of America Board of Trustees, the Webster County Retired Teachers Association. Board of Directors for the National Bird Dog Foundation, President of both the Ohio Valley Field Trial Club and the Coalfield Bird Dog Club, a former Gradd Board Member, Stemming District Board member, as well as a counting member of the FSA and a member of Dixon General Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Jim took great joy in sporting events performing as a player, coach, referee and judge. He was an ardent St. Louis Cardinals fan. Traditional sports such as baseball and basketball were always near to his heart and he was able to mentor a number of young people in those arenas. His greatest sporting love was horseback field trials where he participated with his brother for a number of years. As his years an involvement progressed in the sport he became a highly respected judge of field trials. The highest honor being the judge for the National Championship.
Jim’s greatest joy was his family and the place he called home. He married his wife Linda in 1989, and as a couple their life flourished and grew. He took great pride in his family including sons, nieces, great niece and nephews and a granddaughter.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 29 years Linda Jones Crouse, a brother, Mike Crouse, 2 sons, Jarrod Jones, as well as Jeff Jones and his wife Jessica. A granddaughter, Lily Jones. Three nieces, Mary Sue Schalk and her husband Matt, Rachel Crouse, as well as Megan Crouse Rucker, her husband Timothy and her three children Edith, Samuel, and James.
Visitation will be held at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, August 11 2018 with services to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with visitation from 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dixon.
