James Darrell Hayes

James Darrell Hayes 76, of Providence, KY passed away at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY on Wednesday December 27, 2017. He retired from Dotiki Mines after 35 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith, and loved fishing and golfing. He coached the Providence High School Girls Cross Country and Track teams for over 20 years, in those 20 years he compiled 12 State Championships in Cross Country/Track and Indoor Track. He was inducted into the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1990. He was preceded in death by a brother Ronnie Hayes. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Ann Winstead Hayes of Providence, KY; 1 son James Allen Hayes of Kuttawa, KY; 1 sister Carolyn Vaughn of Dixon, KY; 2 grandchildren Bryce and Tanner Hayes; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday December 30, 2017 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Diane Oakley will officiate. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery in Dixon, KY.
