James Howard Brooks 73, of Slaughters, KY died at his home on Friday November 25, 2011. He was a retired coalminer having worked 25 yrs for Pyro Mines. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, also was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Slaughters. He is survived by his wife Violet Ipock Brooks of Slaughters, KY; four sons Rodney Brooks of Slaughters, KY; Roger Brooks of Clay, KY; John Ipock and Barry Ipock both of Providence, KY; three daughters Loretta Elder of Providence, KY; Ann Quinn and Debbie McIntyre both of Jasper, Alabama; one brother Gerald Brooks of Slaughters, KY; 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY at 2pm on Monday Nov 28, 2011. Bro. Jimmy Sigler and Pastor Jay Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Slaughters. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Sunday at the funeral home and from 8am until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
