Gary Lee Atherton

Gary Lee Atherton 83, of Dixon, KY passed away on Tuesday September 8th, 2026 at his home. Gary was retired from Diamond Equipment in Evansville, IN, he had worked there for several years. He was a member of the Tilden General Baptist Church in Tilden, KY. He loved hunting and was an avid Bow Hunter. He was a KY Colonel, Mason and Shriner. He was a 31 year member of the Masonic Fraternity, having served as Past Master and Secretary of the Poole Lodge #604 and also a member of the Bailey-Onton Lodge #538. He was the son of the late William Carrol and Glenna Galloway Atherton. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Sherry Atherton in 2023. Survivors include his companion Brenda Duncan of Henderson, KY; daughters Jackie(Joe Kerr) Wilhelm of Henderson, KY and Kelly(Carl Roger) Sutton of Morganfield, KY; a son Clint(Tonya) Atherton of Dixon, KY; 2 sisters Faye Hoover of Hartford, KY and Barbara Hester of Utica, KY; 4 grandchildren Chris Wilhelm, Jessie Wilhelm, Josh Atherton and Cody Sutton’ 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 15th, 2026 at 1pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Bro. Glenn Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole, KY. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pm on Monday and from 8am until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
