Omer Franklin Johnson 93, of Slaughters, KY passed away at his home on Monday February 2, 2026. He was born November 29, 1932 to the late Thurman Wilburn and Omer Basil (Bridwell) Johnson. To know Franklin was to love him, he was such a kind and gentle man that had a positive influence on so many people in so many ways. He was a dad, grandaddy, friend, neighbor, farmer, mule skinner, timber buyer, cattleman, tobacco farmer, coworker, gentleman, and acquaintance, but most of all he was just Franklin. He loved his family, grandkids and great grandchildren. He was Franklin every time you saw him, he did not change with circumstances. He was always Franklin. He was such a role model, a guiding light for those who knew and loved him. He retired from Texas Gas in 1990. He was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Slaughters, KY., former board member of Webster County School Board, Sunday School Superintendent of Groves Chapel Methodist and Mt. Pleasant Methodist churches. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores Ranes Johnson; 2 brothers Kenneth and C. E. Johnson. Survived by 1 daughter Kathy (Terry) Woods of Slaughters, KY; 2 sons Frankie (Leica) Johnson of Evansville, IN and Keith (Nita) Johnson of Slaughters, KY; 7 grandchildren Karie (Tim) Brown, Kristen (Clay) Davis, Aaron (Katie) Johnson, Katie Tate, Klay (Magen) Woods, Reese (Christine) Johnson and Emily (Chatman) Ellis; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be 2PM Thursday February 12, 2026 at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Bro. Jacob Bumpus will officiate with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Slaughters, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday February 11, 2026 4-8PM and Thursday from 10AM till service time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice 2410 S. Green St. Henderson, KY 42420.
