Dr. William (Bill) Keutzer

Dr. William D. (Bill) Keutzer went home to be with the LORD on September 7, 2019. Bill was born July 8, 1931, to Peter and Alice Keutzer in Indianapolis, IN.

Bill graduated from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, IN. Atfer receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Butler University, he taught English, Journalism and Creative Writing at Lawrence Central High School. He later received his Masters in Journalism from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Additionally, he received his Doctorate from Tyndale Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He is a Professor Emeritus from Indiana University and Professor Emeritus from Tyndal Seminary.

He served in the Navy aboard the USS English and the USS Brown as sonar man. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Ribbon (5 Stars), National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, and a United Nations Service Medal.

He served as Minister of Education in churches for Indiana, Texas and MS. He retired in 2007 from Empire Truck Sales where he served as Vice President of Customer Support, Jackson, MS.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Brandon, MS where he taught the "Righteous Renegade Sunday School Class" for several years. He was a member of the Flowood Gideon Camp, Flowood, MS where he served two terms as Chaplain.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Sigler Keutzer; 2 sons, Dr. Kurt Keutzer of California and Eric Keutzer of Indiana;1 daughter, Shannon Dietrich of Pennsylvania; 1 sister, 1 granddaughter Demetria Ganster of Pennsylvania; Becky Myers (Tom) of Indiana; 1 niece, Courtney Graham (John) of Michigan; 1 nephew, Matthew Denney (Shayla) of Indiana; 1 brother-in-law, Jerry Sigler (Ivette) of Indiana; and a host of other special family members and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and also, his special aunts and uncles, Violet and Al Staude; and Dorothy and Chester Gott.

The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude for the wonderful love and care provided for Bill and his family by their church and wonderful friends and family along with the care and attention provided in his final days by the medical staff at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2019, from 5pm – 8pm at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home 114 Burney Dr., Flowood, MS 39232. Funeral Services are scheduled to be held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church, 205 Value Park Dr., Brandon, MS 39402 with visitation prior to service from 12pm  at 1pm with the funeral following with Dr. Jeff Walker officiating.

Following the funeral services in Brandon, MS Interment will be conducted by Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY 42409. Funeral services for Dr. William D. (Bill) Keutzer will be held at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY 42409 on Tuesday September 17, 2019. The family will receive friends from 12pm until services time at 1pm. Rev. John Graham will officiate. Burial will be in Slover Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Hopkins Co. Honor Guard.
