Billy Joe Higgs

Billy Joe Higgs, 82, of Sebree, KY passed away at his home on Tuesday November 25th, 2025. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church in Ortiz, KY. He retired from Big Rivers Corp. after 26 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a member of the Madisonville Coon Club. He was the son of the late Gastel Higgs and Elizabeth Fulcher. He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie Lykins Bivens; a brother Paul Ray Higgs, and 2 sisters Linda May King and Pearl Gladys Butler. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Dioka Higgs of Sebree, KY; 2 sons Ricky and Danny Higgs both of Dixon, KY; a sister Joyce Faye Smith of Tunica, MS; 5 grandchildren Amy Sue Martin, Josh Snyder, Carrie Blake, Danielle Kromer, and Kaylie Lykins; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 1st, 2025 at 10am at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Bro. David Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Shelton Cemetery in Sebree, KY. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 4pm-8pm and on Monday from 8am until service time at the funeral home.
